Update 10/17/2008: N2QDK-1 APRS Igate is currently offline while I use the hardware to capture SSTV from the International Space Station. It should be back online by the end of October.
N2QDK-1 weather station has been offline the past few months as weather hardware is repaired (still waiting on parts of Davis), and a new mast system is constructed. The plan is to have everything online before the snow starts to fly.
APRS Hardware & Software Setup
- Radio: Yaesu VX-5R
- Antenna: 1/4 wave mag-mount on a cookie sheet.
- Interface Cable: Custom made DB9 that goes to the Yaesu 4-pin mic and speaker jack. Here's the wiring scheme. I've modified this by adding the radio power and TNC power to the same powerpole connector.
- TNC: Argent Data Systems OpenTracker+ in KISS mode
- Igate Software: UI-View32
- PC: Compaq Presario laptop
- Power Supply: Marine deep-cycle battery on a 5amp charger/maintainer. All hardware (PC, TNC, radio) are powered off the battery. The battery has been tested to 12.1 volts after 48 hours runtime.
Weather Station Hardware & Software Setup
- Weather Station: Davis Vantage Pro 1 (wireless)
The rest of this still needs to be written.
